The
name Goju-Ryu was derived from a Chinese kempo (chuan fa) peom of an
ancient text called the "Bubishi". The proper Chinese translation would
be "Wu Bi Shii" 武備志(Traditional
Chinese) or 武备志(Simplified
Chinese)
In the peom that follows (translated in English), on the third line yo u c an fin d the
statement of Goju.
